Joan Borne

Joan Borne, born March 17, 1931, in Decatur, was the daughter of Elias and Areda (Werling) Lichtenstiger. Joan married the love of her life, Roger Borne, on November 24, 1951. They shared 46 wonderful years together before Roger lost his battle with cancer in May of 1998.
First and foremost, Joan was a wife, mother and grandmother who created a home filled with love, laughter and family traditions. Joan and Roger had three children, Beth (Mrs. Dan) Klaybor of Syracuse, Indiana, Greg (Kathleen) Borne of Chandler, Arizona and Terri (Mrs. Terry) Laurent of Decatur, Indiana. She was also the very proud grandmother of Karly and Ben Klaybor and Patrick (Maya) Laurent and Brian (Kristi) Laurent and great-grandmother of Zane and Camden Laurent. Joan is also survived by two brothers, Bill (Hazel) Lichtenstiger of Ossian, Indiana and Jerry (Eleanor) of Akron, Ohio. One brother, Richard Lichtenstiger, preceded her in death.
Throughout the years, Joan worked in the offices of General Electric, Schaffer Co., Reppert School of Auctioneering, Bellmont Junior High Guidance and Bellmont High School Library.
Honoring Joan's wishes, private graveside services will be held at a future date. Preferred memorials to the Decatur Branch of the Adams County Public Library or March of Dimes.
