Joanne M. Shartzer

Joanne Marie Shartzer, 80, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 5:15 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2019 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse, IN. She was born on January 19, 1939 in Blissfield, MI to Don Ray & Ethel R. (Griffen) Case.

She graduated from Blissfield High School and moved to the Syracuse area in 1984 from Shipshewana, IN. She formerly cleaned houses and was a caretaker at Pickwick Park in Syracuse for 10 years.

She was a member of the Syracuse Church of God, Eagles Lodge in Syracuse, American Legion Auxiliary in Syracuse, V.F.W. Auxiliary in Goshen, and Red Hats of Milford / Syracuse.

She is survived by:

Daughter – Kathy (Parker) McCool of Yucaipa, CA

2 Sons – Russell Wade (Hope) Shartzer of Wolcottville, IN & Kyle Dean Miller of Fort Wayne

Step Son – Eddie (Barb) Shartzer of Virginia

14 Grand and Several Gt. Grandchildren

2 Sisters – Jill (Bill) Eddings of Lyons, OH & Donna (Gaylon) Smith of Harlingen, TX

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter – Jackie Ellen Miller, sister – Agnes Kinsman, and brother – Michael Case.

Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd 15, Warsaw, IN. A memorial service will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2019 in the Church of God, 104 E. Washington St., Syracuse, IN with Pastor Stan Owen officiating. Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St. Syracuse, IN is in charge of arrangements.
