Joe “Fragile” Ray, 60, of Milford, IN passed away on March 30, 2012 at his home. He was born on August 17, 1951 in Warsaw, IN to John Emmett & Ruth Evelyn (Waggy) Ray.
He lived all of his life in the North Webster / Milford area and graduated in 1969 from Wawasee High School. He was formerly married in 1970 to Sue Ann (Donnelly) Hartley who survives and then on July 5, 1981 in Syracuse, IN he was married to Linda I. (Porter) Haines who preceded him in death on April 24, 2011.
He was the former owner / operator of Porter House Restaurant in Milford for several years, was formerly employed at Heaters, Inc in North Webster for many years as well as a self employed salesman.
He was a life member and charter member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 253 in North Webster. He served as commander of the Sons of the American Legion from 1976 – 1978. He formerly coached little league baseball in North Webster and played in a band with his brother in law, Ron Harris.

5 Grand – Christopher Schmucker, Tyler Schmucker, Abigail Schmucker, Tiffaney Sowala Ray, & Drake Sowala; 3 Step Grand – Mrs. Troy (Brandi) Warstler, Brett Haines, & Logan Kraft & 2 Step Gt. Grandchildren – Megan & Audrina
Sister – Mrs. Bill (Rita) Harris-Volk of North Webster
2 Nephews – Travis (wife, Rita) Harris & Trent Harris
Former wife – Sue Ann Mitchell of Warsaw
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd. 13 & CR 500N, North Webster. Private family graveside services will be held on Wednesday in the Milford Cemetery. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the American Legion, St. Rd. 13 in North Webster.
Memorial bequest may be given to the North Webster EMS or Sons of the American Legion. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
