John Eldon Crabtree, age 82 of rural North Webster, passed away at home on Monday, April 10, 2023 just after 4 p.m. with his family at his side.
Born in Harvey, Il on January 19, 1941, John was the son of Fred and Ella (Axtell) Crabtree. He was a graduate of Thornton High School and went on to trade school before joining the military. John was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army. He spent several years with Allis-Chalmers and later worked with United Airlines as a mechanic and fabricator. He was a naturally gifted designer, builder and welder.
More personally, Johnny, as many knew him, was a humble person with a quiet strength. He was a lover of cars, especially muscle cars like the early year Corvettes and the Pontiac GTO. He was patient, kind and always wore a smile. He is missed by those who truly knew him.
Two children survive: son, John M. Crabtree of North Webster and daughter, Lisa Delarosa (husband, Glen) of Plainfield, IL; eight grandchildren: Lucy, Lilly, Lola, Henry, Cruz, Natalie, Marley and Roman and by two siblings: sister, Molly Barna and brother, Dennis Crabtree. He was preceded in passing by his parents and two sisters, Susie Marowski and Sally Nelson.
Titus Funeral Home of North Webster is trusted with care of John and his family. The family is grieving privately at this time; no public services will be held. In lieu of flowers, gifts are appreciated to National Wild Turkey Federation, 770 Augusta Road, Edgefield, SC 29824 or to Ducks Unlimited, Memorial Contribution, One Waterfowl Way, Mephis, TN 38120, Attn: Wawasee Chapter.
