John Richard Pfeiffer, 83, passed away Wednesday, June 21st at 3:20 p.m. in the Nappanee, Indiana home which he’d built by hand.
John was born January 6, 1934 in Nappanee to William C. and Nellie (Faulkner) Pfeiffer.
Lucky enough to find love twice in his life, John was married to Betty Munson on May 10, 1958. They were married for almost 10 years until her passing on January 5, 1968. John later married Linda Hawkins on May 21, 1971 in Elkhart, Indiana. They would share 31 years together until her passing on November 4, 2002.
Although formerly of Warsaw, John spent most of his life in the Nappanee area and had attended Nappanee schools. He was a self-employed carpenter, specializing in building homes, but he was known as a “jack of all trades”.
John was a faithful member of United Pentecostal Church of Warsaw (now Community Life Center) and was integral in building the church and caring for the property. He loved his church and was a man of great faith. He enjoyed being outside and liked to garden.
He will be greatly missed by his two daughters: Tammy (Ken) Riley of Nappanee, Trisha (George) Talley of Ionia, Michigan; son: Eric (Amy) Pfeiffer of Claypool; five grandchildren: Megan and Jonathan Riley of Nappanee, Josh, Scott, and Brandon Talley of Ionia, Michigan and a brother: Glen Gordon “Gordy” Pfeiffer of Boyce, Louisiana. He is also survived by his “special girl”, Autumn Cripe, whom he loved like a granddaughter.
In addition to his wife, Betty, who preceded John in passing on January 5, 1968, and his wife, Linda on November 4, 2002; going before him are 3 brothers: Henry Pfeiffer, Roy Pfeiffer, and Wade Pfeiffer and 3 sisters: Rachel Bollenbacher, Hilda Smith, and Mary Hall.
Friends may gather for a time of sharing on Monday, June 26th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw. A funeral service celebrating John’s life will take place on Tuesday, June 27th at 11:00 a.m. at Community Life Center, 825 N. Harrison Street, Warsaw; a visitation will take place for one hour prior. Dr. Dan Cox of Community Life Center will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be made to Community Life Center – Building Fund, 825 N. Harrison Street, Warsaw, Indiana 46580.
