John “Ed” Davis, 85, of Warsaw, IN (formerly of West Burlington, Iowa) passed away on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017 at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw, IN. He was born on Aug. 6, 1931, in Kimberton, PA. to Charles and Sadie (Mourar) Davis.
He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1953-1956. On July 17, 1959, he married Mary Lou Shunk in Boca Raton, FL. He received his B.S. in administrative engineering from LaFayette College and Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. He pastored churches in Danville, Iowa; Billings, Mont.; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Mount Pleasant, Iowa. He was passionate about sharing the gospel. He enjoyed reading, Bible study and woodworking, and especially enjoyed spending time with family.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary Lou; children, Tim (Kerry) Davis, Billings; Jan (Rod) Valentine, Warsaw; Lisa (Steve) Hauff, Loveland, CO.; and Jill (Mark) Pederson, Marion; 12 grandchildren: Taylor (Cally), Garrett (Liz), Sydney, Gabe, Max, Chris (Kinsie), Jamie (David), Mitchell (Brittany), Rae, Lena, Ryan and Todd; seven great-grandchildren with two on the way; and a brother, T. Raymond Davis (Barbara), Phoenixville, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother and a grandson, Phillip Valentine.
A memorial service was officiated by his son-in-law, Pastor Rod Valentine, at First Baptist Church, Warsaw, at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017. Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd 15, Warsaw, IN assisted with local arrangements.
