John J. “Buster” Werstler, 82, of Pierceton, IN (Ridinger Lake) died at 12:10 p.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw. He was born on November 8, 1927 in Pierceton, IN to Lester O. & Eva Leone (Magee) Wertsler.
He was a lifetime Larwill / Pierceton area resident and graduated in 1945 from Larwill High School. He served in the United States Army and the Navy Reserves from 1946 – 1950. He was married on September 13, 1953 in North Webster, IN to Letha B. Wagoner who survives.
He was a lifetime area farmer and formerly worked at Dalton Foundry & White Metal both in Warsaw. He was a member of the American Legion Post 253 in North Webster.
He is survived by:
Wife – Letha Werstler of Pierceton
3 Sisters – Lola Drudge of Warsaw; Joan Myers of Larwill & Isabel Ruckman of Larwill
1 Brother – Ivan (wife, Glenna) Werstler of Pierceton
Several Nieces & Nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday August 10, 2010 at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd. 13 & C.R. 500N, North Webster, IN. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the funeral home with Rev. Paul D. Tinkel, retired First Brethren Church minister officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery at Pierceton with military graveside rites performed by the North Webster American Legion.
Memorial bequest may be given to donor’s choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
