John Martin Kinder

John Martin Kinder, 78, of Ligonier, IN (formerly of North Webster, IN) passed away at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at Avalon Village Nursing Home in Ligonier, IN. He was born on March 20, 1942 in Chicago, IL to John S. & Catherine (Chiabotti) Kinder.

He graduated from Kelly High School in Chicago, IL and was married on February 24, 1962 in Chicago Heights, IL to Judith R. (Judy) Walton who survives. He was a Deacon for the Catholic Church in Ohio from 1986 - 1995. He was ordained in Chicago and worked for St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wakeman, OH. He moved to North Webster in 1995 from Wakeman, OH and then to Ligonier in 2016.

He was a former member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wakeman, OH.

His wife, Judy Kinder of Ligonier, recently passed on Saturday, May 27, 2023.

He is survived by:

Daughter – Katherine Eppelmann of Syracuse

4 Sons – John (Vanessa) Kinder of Chicago Heights, IL, Christopher Kinder of Phoenix, AZ, Andrew Kinder of Elkhart, and Gregory (Kim) Kinder of Grabill, IN.

7 Grand & 2 Gt. Granddaughters

Brother – Paul (Mary) Kinder of San Jose, CA

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Titus Funeral Home – Syracuse is entrusted with Judy’s care. Family and friends may gather for at the funeral home, 1001 South Huntington St., Syracuse IN, to celebrate the lives of John and his wife, who passed on May 27, 2023, on Friday, June 2nd, 2023 from 11:00am until the 12:00pm Noon funeral service.  Burial will take place in the Syracuse Cemetery immediately following.

Preferred memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s & Dementia Services of Northern Indiana, P.O. Box 4204, South Bend, IN 46634.
