Jonita M. "Jo" Frank

Jonita M. “Jo” Frank, 64, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 10:18 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at her home. She was born on April 6, 1952 in Leon, IA to Robert G. & Elsie L. (McMurtrey) Upfield.

She graduated in 1970 from Mormon Trail High School in Garden Grove, IA and in 1974 from William Penn College in Oskaloosa, IA. She was married on July 1, 1972 in Weldon, IA to Alan R. Frank who survives. She grew up in Iowa and lived in Anderson, IN for 7 years & Mexico, IN 2 years before moving to the Pierceton / Syracuse area in 1986. She retired from the Department of Family Resources in Warsaw after 30+ years of service and formerly worked in the Anderson and Wabash offices.

She was a member of the Church of God in North Webster, the Wawasee Camp of Gideon’s International Auxiliary in Syracuse and formerly attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Oswego.

She is survived by:

Husband – Alan Frank of Syracuse

1 Daughter – Katie (Neal) Brown of South Whitley

4 Grandchildren – Ryan, Amy, Ally, and Jay

1 Sister – Jayma (Ed) Smith of Humeston, IA

1 Brother – Brad (Marty) Upfield of Merry Hill, NC

She was preceded by her parents, daughter – Amy Frank in 1976, & son – Nathan Frank in 1997.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the Church of God, 300 N. Main St., North Webster, IN with Pastor Jeff Boyer of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.
