Joseph Verteramo Jr.

Joseph James “Jody” Verteramo, Jr., 57, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 10:40 AM in his Austin, Texas home.
Born November 6, 1956, Jody is the son of Joseph James and Gloria (Egly) Verteramo, Sr. He was a 1975 graduate of Peru High School, (Indiana). He earned an Associate Degree from the University of Texas.
Jody entered the United States Air Force on January 27, 1976 in San Antonio, Texas. Senior Airman Joseph James Verteramo, Jr. was honorably discharged June 5, 1979 from Bergstrom Air Force Base, Texas.
Living most of his life in Texas, Jody loved teaching school and reading. He was an avid writer. Jody really enjoyed helping people and loved his family.
Survivors include his daughter, Teresa M. Verteramo and his parents, Joseph and Gloria Verteramo, Sr. of Warsaw. Also surviving is his sister: Christina Campbell of Fort Wayne, Indiana; his brother: John M. Verteramo of Elkhart, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
Jody was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Joseph and Agnes Verteramo and his maternal grandparents: Victor and Harriett Egly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said Saturday, August 16th at 10:30 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw. Father Phil DeVolder of the church will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service (9:30 – 10:30 AM).
Burial will take place at Oakhill Cemetery in Plymouth where military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.
