Joseph E. "Joe" Bowling

Joseph E. “Joe” Bowling, 77, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Greenhouse Village of Goshen in Goshen, IN. He was born on July 19, 1941 in Salt Lick, KY to Clinton Clayton & Bessie Marie (Triplett) Bowling.

He moved from Kentucky in 1943 to Indiana, attended Dalton Schools in Dalton, IN, and moved to Syracuse in 1959 from New Castle, IN. He was married on June 10, 1961 in New Castle, IN to Evelyn J. Marcum who preceded him on Sept. 9, 2010 and retired from Dana Corporation in Syracuse after 18 years.  He was formerly employed at Sea Nymph in Syracuse, Smoker Craft in New Paris, Liberty Homes in Syracuse for 19 years, and mowed for Epworth Forest Camp for 10 years after retirement.

He formerly attended the Syracuse Baptist Church.

He is survived by:

2 Daughters – Tammy (Mike) Bickel & Donna (Mark) Bowling –Scott both of Syracuse

Son – Tim (Donna) Bowling of Syracuse

2 Grand – Timothy (Karly) Bowling & Joshua Bickel

2 Gt. Grandchildren – Anna Leigh & Christian Bowling

2 Sisters – Mona Drumm & Wanda (Mike) Reiff both of Warsaw

3 Brothers – Euell (Freda) Bowling of Springport, IN, Sam (Sandy) Bowling of Pierceton, and Denny (Lucinda) Bowling of North Webster

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister – Dempsy Bowling, and brother – Huey Bowling.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018 in the Syracuse Cemetery.
