Julie M. Hockenberry, age 63, passed away quietly in her son’s Fort Wayne home on Monday, January 31, 2022 just after 8 p.m.
The daughter of the Richard Smith and Naomi (Zuber) Smith, Julaine was her legal name though everyone knew her as Julie. Julie was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 4, 1958 and spent her formative years in Antwerp. She was a 1976 graduate of Antwerp Local High School and later earned an associate degree in Accounting from International Businesses College.
Julie was a selfless and caring person. She often cared more about others than herself and was a caregiver at heart; this was true in her career too as she spent many years as a home health aide. She enjoyed medical dramas on TV, liked to read (especially the books of Danielle Steel) and enjoyed watching NASCAR where she mostly was cheering for Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
Those who survive fondly remember her feisty personality, her caring heart, and her love for family. A large extended family survives though her closest surviving relatives include four sons: Cory Foster of Paulding, OH, Christopher Foster of Paulding, OH, Matthew Tule of Fort Wayne and Michael Tule (wife, Amber) of Wabash; six grandchildren: Skie Munzo, Nelson Foster, Sloan Foster, Hunter Foster, Gage Tule and Mason Tule; sister, Joni Taylor (husband, Kevin); brother, Jeff Smith (wife, Reba) and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in passing by her son, Samuel Tule and her parents.
Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw is entrusted with Julie’s care. The family will celebrate her life privately in the summer, the date and location will be announced later.
