Kathleen May Goshert, known to most as “Katy,” passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Katy was born on November 2, 1927 in Rochester, Indiana. She was the daughter of Jesse H. and Lulu I. (Borden) Romig. Eventually making their home in Warsaw, Indiana, Katy was a graduate of Warsaw High School.
On August 5th 1950 she was married to Richard “Dick” R. Goshert in Warsaw. Together the two would start a family which includes two sons and shared nearly 60 years of marriage. Dick preceded Katy in passing on January 30th, 2009.
Katy had previously worked at Woodies Supermarket on Lake Street and served as the Assistant Manager of the first Dollar General store to open in Warsaw. Although she held several jobs, Katy was most at home in the service of others, finding real joy in serving meals at Retired Tigers through REAL Services.
A truly selfless person, she volunteered for Mobile Meals, Kosciusko Community Hospital and Back to the Days of Kosciusko. She was a member of the DAR and several home economic clubs. She loved to read suspenseful mystery novels and enjoyed the television show “Murder She Wrote.” Above all of this, Katy was a people person who enjoyed time spent eating out with family and friends.
Katy and her husband had attended church at Harrison Center Church and were previously members of Pleasant View Bible Church.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons: Paul (wife, Sue) Goshert and Tim (wife, Shelly) Goshert; five grandchildren: Sarah Goshert, Jennifer Goshert, Adam Goshert, Andrew (wife, Joni) Goshert, and Aric (wife, Brenna) Goshert; three great-grandchildren: Braden, Beau and Evan Goshert and a brother: Jack Romig – all residing in Warsaw.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Goshert, her parents, and a sister, Mary Hillery.
Friends may join family at Pleasant View Cemetery, 2782 West 200 North, Warsaw, for a graveside service and committal on Wednesday, November 30th at 10 AM.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 29th from 4 to 7 PM in Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw.
