Kay (Bryant) Prater

November 12, 1946 — June 3, 2020

Kay Frances (Bryant) Prater, age 73 and a longtime resident of Warsaw, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 just after 1:30 p.m. in Grace Village Healthcare Center, Winona Lake.

Born on November 12, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of Ethel Wendell Bryant and Nell Winnie (Campbell) (Bryant) Allen. She was one of seven children raised in the family home and she attended Warsaw High School.

Kay was married to the late Callahan “Butch” Prater on February 29, 1964. The pair shared more than forty-five years together before his passing in 2009. Their loving family includes three children and seven grandchildren with whom time was precious.

Kay was an incredibly caring, giving person, especially with her family. She was strong-willed and kind. She liked cooking, crochet, and Westerns. She was rarely spotted without her nails painted and was known for her kindhearted nature.

In addition to her husband, Butch, she was received in heaven by her brothers, Euwin and Gary Bryant; father; mother; step-father, James Allen; nieces, Leslie McDonald and Stacy Bryant and nephew, Kevin Bryant. Those who survive with memories to cherish include her three children: Tammy Walls of Warsaw; Randy Prater of Warsaw and Tim Prater of Bourbon; seven grandchildren: Kyler Walls, Kayle Robinson, Katey Walls, Heather Prater, Chase Prater, Callie Prater and Alison Beal; brothers: Darrell (Connie) Bryant of Northport, FL, Bill (Cookie) Bryant of Warsaw and Mike Bryant of Barbee Lake; sister, Jackie (Brian) Foster of Warsaw and sister-in-law, Linda Bryant of Warsaw. Also surviving are several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A Life Celebration® is planned with Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw where family will receive visitors on Sunday, June 7, 2020 from 2 - 5 p.m. On Monday at 11 a.m. in Titus Funeral Home, Pastor Bob Brown of God’s Highway to Heaven Church will officiate Kay’s funeral service. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
