Kenneth V. “Kenny” Gragg peacefully went to be with the Lord Monday morning, September 8, 2014 at 10:40 in his Warsaw, Indiana home.
Kenneth Victor Gragg was born November 26, 1911 in Etna Green, Indiana to George and Hettie (Williamson) Gragg. He was a 1931 graduate of Etna Green High School. And on May 20, 1933, also in Etna Green, Kenny took Bonnie Smith to be his wife. They would share a remarkable 81 years together. She survives.
A lifetime Kosciusko County resident, Kenny co-owned Martin and Gragg Equipment Company in Bremen for 9 years, Gragg Equipment Company in Nappanee for 2 years and Gragg Equipment Company (now Bobcat of Warsaw) for 53 years – all 3 were International Harvester dealerships. Until age 99 he continued to sweep the floors, empty the wastebaskets, etc. at Bobcat of Warsaw. Kenny was always service oriented in his business dealings and as honest as the day is long.
Kenny was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Warsaw, for 65 years. He lived his faith daily. He was raised into the Warsaw Masonic Lodge No. 73, F. & A. M. on December 17, 1945 and was also a member of the Scottish Rite of Fort Wayne. Kenny enjoyed gardening and working in the yard. For 20 years he and Bonnie wintered in Fort Meyers and then Arcadia, Florida. Although stern by nature, he was a very humble and gracious man. He was very proud of his family. His sweet smile and disposition will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife, Bonnie, those left with hearts full of treasured thoughts and moments are son and daughter-in-law: Don and Diana Gragg of Sturgis, Michigan; daughter and son-in-law: Joann and Merl Heckaman, Warsaw; 5 grandchildren: Jay and Sharon Heckaman, Warsaw; Kay and Robert Ruggier, Warsaw; Eric and Nicole Heckaman, Warsaw; Tim and Noel Heckaman, Warsaw; and Tona Molebash, Bremen; 1 granddaughter-in-law: Julie Heckaman, Claypool, Indiana; 15 great grandchildren; 4 great, great grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren; and 4 step great, great grandchildren.
Kenny was preceded in his death by his parents, grandson, Brian Heckaman (July 12, 1998) and great granddaughter, Josie Heckaman (March 20, 2010).
Family and friends will gather for a time of sharing in support of each other Wednesday, September 10th from 4-7 PM at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Following visitation at 7 PM there will be a Masonic Memorial Service in the funeral home. A service celebrating 102 years of life given to Kenneth V. Gragg will take place Thursday, September 11th beginning at 10:30 AM in the funeral home. Pastor Dave Hummel of Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
The family has asked that gifts in Kenny’s memory be given to the church he loved, Trinity United Methodist Church, 832 E. Center Street, Warsaw, Indiana 46580.
The staff of Titus Funeral Home considers it a privilege and an honor to care for the family and friends of Kenneth V. Gragg.
