Kenneth D. "Kenny" Johnson

Kenneth D. “Kenny” Johnson, 79, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 5:25 a.m. on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse. He was born November 6, 1938 in Milford Junction, IN to Noble & Hazel (Adams) Johnson.

He was a lifetime Milford / Syracuse area resident and attended Milford High School.  He was married on April 8, 1960 in Milford to Shirley A. Knisley who preceded him in death on July 5, 2018.  He was formerly employed at Weatherhead / Dana Corporation in Syracuse for 25 years and retired from Hoosier Fire Equipment in Valparaiso, IN after 25 years.  He was a fireman on the Syracuse Fire Department for 33 years and served as the fire chief for 3 of those years.  He served on the Syracuse town council for 8 years and the Indiana Alcoholic Beverage & Tobacco Commission for 10 years.

He is survived by:

Daughter – Kristi (Antonio) Mannella of Miami

Son – Scott Johnson of Ligonier

3 Grandchildren

Brother- Darrell Johnson of Yuma, AZ

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 sisters- Carolyn Welker & Barbara Place.

Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. S.R. 15, Warsaw, IN. A Celebration of Life Gathering for Kenneth and Shirley Johnson will be from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Graveside services will take place at 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 4, 2018 in the Syracuse Cemetery with Pastor Brad Cox of the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel officiating.
