Larry S. Bowers of Warsaw, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2016 surrounded by the love of his family.

Seventy-seven years old at the time of his passing, Larry had lived many years in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. He and his wife moved to Warsaw in 2013 to be nearer their family.

Larry was born on November 27, 1938 in Alma, Michigan. He was the son of Stewart W. and Dorothy (Gilbert) Bowers and was a 1959 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School.

Larry entered into service with the United States Army in Detroit, Michigan on September 8, 1960. He served in the 45th Medical Battalion as a Medical Corpsman, stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. Private First Class (E-3) Larry S. Bowers was honorably discharged in February 1963 from Dearborn, Michigan.

On November 30, 1963, Larry was united in marriage to Annette Coppens-Morrison in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.

He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, enjoyed all types of fishing and always kept a large vegetable garden. He was a hobbyist woodworker and enjoyed making trinkets.

Larry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Annette Bowers; daughter-in-law: Becky Thomas of Claypool, Indiana; son-in-law: Dennis Penner of Middlebury, Indiana; three grandsons: Gary Bowers (and fiancé, Codi Bradley of Warsaw, Nathan Penner (and fiancé, Chelsie Bigler) of Goshen, Indiana and Steven (wife, Marcia) Bowers of Mt. Pleasant; two granddaughters; Christina (husband, Ryan) Gross of Warsaw and Brandalee Penner of Mt. Pleasant; three great-grandsons and five great-granddaughters.

Those who preceded Larry in passing include his son and two daughters: Gary Bowers (June 1998), Tonya Penner (August 2007) and Trecy Bowers (April 2015) and an infant great-granddaughter; Ally Bowers (November 2013).

Visitation will be held in Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw, on Thursday, October 6th from 11 am – 12:30 pm.

A graveside service will take place at 2pm in White Pigeon Township Cemetery, 200 West Vermont Avenue, White Pigeon, Michigan. Pastor Don Chesher of Faith Baptist Church, Middlebury, will officiate. Military graveside honors will be conducted by members of White Pigeon’s American Legion Post #138 and the United States Army Funeral Honor Guard.
