Obituary for
Larry Mohler
Larry J. Mohler, 74, of Tijeras (Albuquerque, New Mexico) and formerly of Warsaw, Indiana went to his eternal home to be with Jesus on Thursday, July 6, 2017. His passing was the result of injuries he sustained in an automobile accident.
Larry was born September 20, 1942 in Columbus, Ohio. He was the 2nd of twins born to Dr. Joseph H. “Joe” and Kathryn (Senseman) Mohler.
He was a 1960 graduate of Trotwood Madison High School. Larry earned a BA from Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana and an MS from Saint Francis College (now University of St. Francis) in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He taught at Judy School (a one room school house north of Warsaw) and then 6th grade at Madison Elementary School in Warsaw until he entered the United States Border Patrol in 1970.
Larry was a 28-year veteran of the United States Border Patrol. He attained the rank of Deputy Chief Patrol Agent. His last duty station was in Artesia, New Mexico where he was the first head of the Border Patrol Advance Training Center.
Larry loved to fish and camp but his passion was in hunting. He was very involved with action pistol matches. In earlier years when able, he was active in church activities. He loved his children and grandchildren.
Left with memories to cherish are his wife: Diana Beth Sheets Mohler, Tijeras (Albuquerque), New Mexico; 2 daughters: Jill Mohler of Tampa, Florida and Krista (and Rob) Quinnelly of Campbellsville, Kentucky; 1 grandson; 4 step-children: Sam Ayres, Lacey Dobbins, Will McLellan and Matt McLellan; 5 step-grandchildren; 1 step-great grandchild; 1 brother: Gary (wife, Bobbie) Mohler Warsaw; 1 sister: Cheryl (husband, John) Perek, Claypool, Indiana; 4 nephews; and 1 niece. Larry’s death was preceded by his father, Dr. Joseph H. Mohler, and his mother, Kathryn Callahan.
A memorial service will be held August 19th at 1:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church in Artesia. Larry will be honored by the U.S. Border Patrol Honor Guard following the service.
