Larry A. Harkleroad, 65, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 2:26 a.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at I.U. Goshen Hospital in Goshen, IN. He was born on May 1, 1948 in Richmond, IN to Harry M. & Lena F. (Falcone) Harkleroad.

He graduated in 1966 from Richmond High School and attended Indiana University East in Richmond. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was married on August 16, 1975 in Richmond to Linda K. Henry who survives and moved to the Syracuse area at that time. He retired in 2011 as a salesman for Quality Cabinets in Dallas, TX after 20+ years of service & and was formerly employed at Kemper Cabinets in Richmond.

He was a member of the Syracuse V.F.W. Post 1342 and American Legion Post 223 both in Syracuse.

He is survived by:
Wife – Linda Harkleroad of Syracuse
Son – Ryan (Alexandra) Harkleroad of Indianapolis
3 Sisters – Darlene Caves of Centerville; Becky (Jay) Hartman of Richmond; & Angela (Darren) Touseull of Fishers
Brother – Ken (Pat) Jordan of Richmond
Several Nieces & Nephews

He was preceded by his parents & brother – David Harkleroad

Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Brad Cox of the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.

Memorial bequest may be given to American Cancer Society, 130 Red Coach Dr., Mishawaka, IN 46545 or Syracuse V.F.W. Post 1342, 307 W. Chicago St., Syracuse, IN 46567. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
