Lee “Gene” Mock, 85, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 8:25 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville, IN. He was born on December 10, 1927 in Pierceton IN to Otto & Irene (Plew) Mock.
He was a lifetime North Webster / Syracuse area resident and attended North Webster High School. He was a United States Navy Veteran and on June 2, 1947 in Elizabeth City, NC he married Edna “Marie” Bennett who survives. He was a farmer and retired in 1990 from Coachman RV in Middlebury after 12 years of service. He formerly worked at Regent Homes in Syracuse.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #418 F&AM in Milford, Scottish Rite in Fort Wayne, National Rifle Association, and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 253 in North Webster & V.F.W. in Syracuse.
He is survived by:
Wife – Marie Mock of Syracuse
Son – Gary L. Mock of Syracuse
Granddaughter – Valerie (Paul) Clingerman of Vincennes, IN
Brother – Roger (Sarah) Mock of Shreveport, LA
He was preceded by his parents.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, September 30, 2013 at the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery with Russell Chandler, Chaplain for the American Legion officiating. Military services will be performed by the North Webster American Legion & Syracuse V.F.W.
