Leo D. Parkhurst

Leo D. Parkhurst, 73, of Pierceton, IN passed at 1:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Millers Merry Manor in Syracuse, IN. He was born on September 14, 1938 in East Gary, IN to Olin & Maude Elizabeth (Ginter) Parkhurst.

He attended East Gary Edison High School in East Gary, IN and was a United States Navy Veteran. He retired from Bethlehem Steel in Burns Harbor, IN. He formerly worked for the postal service and formerly owned & operated the Clark Gas Station in La Porte, IN.

He lived in the North Webster / Pierceton area for the past 20 years and was a member of the American Legion Post 434 in Kingsford Heights, IN.

He is survived by:
3 Daughters – Judy Anderson of Amery, WI; Michelle Trujillo of Pierceton; & Mrs. Santos (Pamela) Nunez of Joliet, IL
10 grand & 12 Gt. Grandchildren
2 Sisters – Mrs. Patrick (Nancy) McGrain of Valparaiso, IN & Mrs. Robert (Janet) Koester of Leitchfield, KY
Brother – Terry (wife, Laurie) Parkhurst of Brandon, FL

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister – Gail Mattox & brother – Richard Parkhurst.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd. 13 & CR 500N, North Webster, IN.  Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Judy officiating.

Memorial bequest may be given to the Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County, P.O. Box 1906, Warsaw, IN 46580.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
