Biography
Leona G. “Oney” Denney, 86, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014 at 5:10 AM in her daughter’s Silver Lake, Indiana home.
Leona G. (Rule) Denney was born August 24, 1927 in Kosciusko County, Indiana to Wilbur and Jessie (Long) Rule. She was a graduate of Leesburg High School.
Leona and Norman L. Denney were joined in marriage November 27, 1946 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
A lifetime Kosciusko County resident, she was employed by Dalton Foundry for 25 years retiring from the core room August 1, 1987.
A member of the Warsaw Square Dance Club, she enjoyed playing Farkle and flower gardening. She was always joyful and never new a stranger. She loved being around people including while shopping and eating out. Oney enjoyed cooking for friends and for family gatherings; nobody left hungry. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Leona will be lovingly remembered by her friends and family including son and daughter-in-law: Randy and Sally Denney, Warsaw; 2 daughters and sons-in-law: Linda and Johnny Jude, Warsaw and Rhonda and Ron Gronau of Silver Lake; 6 grandchildren and their spouses: Shelley and Matt Boruff of Kokomo, Indiana; Tonya and Dale Arter of Warsaw; Nicholas and Brittany Denney of Silver Lake; Timothy Denney, Warsaw; Brandy and Parwaiz Nur of Saline, Michigan; and Sara and Homayun Nur of Evans, Georgia; and 14 great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman L. Denney, on July 24, 2006 and her sister, Bonnie Hippensteel on September 2, 2013.
Family and friends will gather for a time of sharing in support of each other Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. A service celebrating the life of Leona G. Denney will follow beginning at 1:30 PM in the funeral home. Pastor Gene Correll, brother-in-law, will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
