Leona Irene Keim, 90, of Ligonier, IN passed away at 1:03 p.m. on Monday, January 19, 2015 at Avalon Village Healthcare in Ligonier. She was born on August 10, 1924 in Dane County, WI to William & Lillian (Detwiler) Keim.
She attended public school in Wisconsin and lived most of her life in Milwaukee, WI & San Jacinto, CA before moving to Ligonier / Syracuse area. She worked as a domestic servant & custodian in a California hospital for many years.
She was a former member of the Community of Christ Church in San Jacinto, CA.
She is survived by:
Nieces – Wanda Brown of Goshen; Virginia (Mike) Wyland of Milford; Patty (Art) Horn of Mentone; Janet Coy of Goshen; & Gwen Coy of Arlington, TX
Nephew – David Hire of Ligonier
Numerous Great, Great Great & Great Great Great Nieces & Nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister – Marcella Coy, 2 brothers – Marvin & Clarence Keim, 3 half - sisters – Jane Sharp, May Ralston, and Betty Ratliff, half-brother – Donald “Bud” Hawk, niece Betty Hire, 2 nephews – Dale & Marvin Coy.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2015 in the Syracuse Cemetery.
Memorial bequest may be given to I.U. Goshen Home Care & Hospice, P.O. Box 723, Goshen, IN 46527. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
