Leroy R. Rapp, 89, of Winona Lake, IN passed away at 12:29 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at his home. He was born on December 1, 1930 in Urbana, IN to Lorin L. & Virga (Amber) Rapp.
He graduated in 1948 from Muncie Central High School, attended Ball State University in Muncie, IN and then graduated in 1953 from Indiana Central College in Indianapolis. He received his Master’s Degree from Butler University in Indianapolis and was a United States Navy veteran. He was married on April 11, 1954 in Indianapolis, IN to Hope E. Fruth who preceded him on July 6, 2009, and then on September 11, 2010 in North Webster, IN he married Carol M. (Kinsey) Carlin who survives.
He retired in 1990 from Wawasee Community School Corporation. He taught 36 years as a guidance counselor, social studies, and physical education teacher at Perry East Jr. High in Southport and Syracuse Elementary & Jr. High Schools. He was a coach for many school sports and served as athletic director when he was in Southport. He moved to Pierceton in June 1970 from Indianapolis, IN and then to Warsaw / Winona Lake area in 2010.
He was a longtime member of the North Webster Church of God & Wawasee Camp of the Gideon’s International in Syracuse. He was a former member of the Wawasee Kiwanis Club in Syracuse. He joined forces with the Wycliffe Bible Translators and was involved on many missions’ trips including 2 years in Papua New Guinea & 2 years in Davao, Philippines.
He is survived by:

Daughter – Sharon (David) Matti of Milford
Son – Chuck (Pam) Rapp of Brownsburg, IN
6 Grand & 7 Grandchildren
Sister – Rosalie Eiler of Naperville, IL
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1st wife.
Due to the current situation of the Coronavirus restrictions the family has decided to make changes to previous funeral plans. Private family graveside services will take place. A memorial service will take place at a later date yet to be determined. Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd 13 & CR 500N, North Webster, IN is in charge of arrangements.
