Lillian M. (Reusser) (Nei) Hawley, age 88 years, of Kimmell, Indiana went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 30, 2015.
Lillian was born on February 3, 1927, in Berne, Indiana, to Paul W. and Agnes R. (Atz) Shoemaker. She was married to George F. Reusser on October 14, 1948 at Cross Evangelical Reformed Church in Berne, Indiana. George preceded her in death on September 7, 1983. She then was married to Donald E. Nei on February 2,1985. Donald preceded her in death on November 22, 1996. Lillian subsequently married Lawrence Hawley on November 11, 2008. Lawrence survives her and presently resides in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Lillian was also preceded in death by her son, Andrew Reusser, a brother, James Shoemaker and both of her parents.
Also surviving Lillian are her daughters Virginia (Mark) Timler (South Bend, IN), Roxanne (Paul) Comino(Millersburg, IN), Heather (Michael) Telschow (Wakarusa, IN) and her sons Karl (Cindy) Reusser (Warsaw, IN), Jack (Elaine) Reusser (Bixby, OK), Thomas (Mayrea) Reusser (Elkhart, IN), Hugh (Susan) Reusser (Churubusco, IN), Nathan (Kayse) Reusser (Tulsa, OK) and her daughter-in-law, Mary Luz Reusser (Dallas, TX) as well as numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many step-children, step-grand children and step-great grandchildren.
Lillian lived a full life. She graduated as a registered nurse from Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. prior to her marriage to George. At the age of 11 years, she received the call to the mission field. She and her husband George spent many years first in Japan and then, later in life, Belize, CA. Her greatest passion was to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and the salvation message. She produced a series of audio Christian children’s tapes, a children’s tract in Spanish, and authored and published a work of fiction showing God’s power. She also had a great love of God’s creation taking joy in painting the beauty she saw around her and using her artistic skills in children’s ministry illustrations.
A celebration of her life will be held at Titus Funeral Home in Warsaw, IN on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Donald Mishler presiding. There will be visitation 2 hours before the service. A graveside service will be held at Saint John’s United Church of Christ Cemetery in Vera Cruz, Wells County, Indiana.
