Lolabell L. Sloan passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 4:45 AM in her Warsaw, Indiana home. She was 97.
The daughter of Edward C. and Ethena L. (Truex) Werick, Lolabell was a 1935 graduate of Warsaw High School.
On January 30, 1937 she and Dayton R. Sloan were married in LaPorte, Indiana.
She worked in the Shrine Building for 13 years and for Thornburg Drugs for 10 years.
Loloabell was a member of Walnut Creek United Methodist Church and a member of the Dancing Grannies. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as watching nature in the back yard.
She will be greatly missed by her family including her daughter: Loretta Ann Reeder of Warsaw; 6 sons and daughters-in-law: Cary R. and Jan Sloan of Atwood, Indiana; Jerry D. Sloan of Buena Vista, Colorado; Steven L. Sloan and his fiancée, Jane Gramich, of St. Louis, Missouri; Dayton “Dick” and Sharon Sloan of Indianapolis, Indiana; David M. Sloan and his fiancée, Joan Parker, of Warsaw; John R. and Carol Sloan, Warsaw; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren.
Lolabell was preceded in death by her husband, Dayton R. Sloan, on October 30, 1998; 2 brothers: William Weirick and Carl Weirick; 3 sisters: Mary McCullough, Edna Truman and Georgia Baum; and 1 granddaughter.
Family and friends will gather for a time of sharing in support of each other Wednesday, August 13th from 2-4 and 5-8 PM at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw and 1 hour prior to the service. A service celebrating the life of Lolabell Sloan will take place Thursday, August 14th beginning at 11 AM in the funeral home. Pastor Cindy Gackenheimer of Celebrations United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
