Loren W. Munson, age 84 and a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, was called Home on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 10:35 a.m. from Fort Wayne’s Lutheran Hospital.
Born on March 26, 1936 in Claypool, Loren was the son of Harry A. and Dorothy (Holderman) Munson. He was one of five children and was a 1954 graduate of Claypool High School. On September 14, 1956, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Snyder who survives.
Known for his work ethic and his friendly demeanor, Loren worked for Zimmer as a tool cutter grinder. He also owned L & M Tool Sharpening though he was a man of many talents. He enjoyed gardening, often sharing the fruits of his labor, and fishing. He also enjoyed time spent with friends, dinner out and adored time spent with his family especially his grandchildren And great-grandchildren. He was a longtime member of Calvary Tabernacle Church in Winona Lake, teaching Sunday School for many years. He also played trumpet and sang in a trio with his brother and cousin.
Those who survive with memories to cherish include his wife, Phyllis Munson of Claypool; daughter, Lorena (Gary) Jameson of Shepherdsville, KY; grandsons: Eric (Luci) Jameson of Jeffersontown, KY and Travis Jameson of Shepherdsville; two brothers, Max Munson of Warsaw and David (Margaret) Munson of Claypool; and sister, Arlene Ryan of North Webster. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Max and Ryleigh, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing by his parents and a brother, Doyle Munson.
A Life Celebration® will be held with the assistance of Titus Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at Calvary Tabernacle Church, 1300 Wooster Road, Winona Lake, on Friday, August 7, 2020 from 10 a.m. – Noon. Pastor Rich Maron will officiate the Noon funeral with burial to follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Those in attendance are politely requested to wear a mask.
