Lowell J. Welty, 77, of Milford, IN passed away at 5:25 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at his home. He was born on May 2, 1937 in New Paris, IN to Ray & Edna M. (Oswald) Welty.

He graduated in 1955 from New Paris High School and was a lifetime New Paris, Syracuse, and Milford area resident. He was married on November 27, 1985 in Warsaw, IN to Peggy J. “Peg” (Watkins) Green who survives. He retired from Commodore Corporation in Syracuse & Goshen after 20+ years of service and formerly worked at IXL Cabinets in Goshen for 12 years and Vega Industries in Syracuse for 10 years.

He was a member for the First Mennonite Church in Nappanee, Maxwelton Golf Club in Syracuse and formerly attended the Goshen City Church of the Brethren.  He loved I.U. basketball & Wawasee High School sports.

He is survived by:
Wife – Peg Welty of Milford
Daughter – Beckie (Jeff) Moore of Syracuse
1 Grandson – Jeffrey Moore
2 Step Daughters – Sue Ann Timmons of Warsaw & Kelly (Alan) Abrams of Leesburg
Step Son – Don (Marylee) Hepler of Leesburg
7 Step Grand & 4 Step Gt. Grandchildren
Sister – Barb (Phil) Eiler of Goshen

He was preceded in death by his parents & sister – Janet Carpenter.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home with Rev. Janet McFall-Brown of the church officiating.

Memorial bequest may be given to First Mennonite Church, 900 W. Market St., Nappanee, IN 46550. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
