Lucille E. Searfoss

Lucille E. Searfoss, 93, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Millers Merry Manor in Syracuse. She was born on November 22, 1919 in Syracuse, IN to Ross W. & Esther C. (Tiedt) Osborn.

She was a lifetime Syracuse area resident, graduated in 1937 from Syracuse High School and in 1941 from Purdue University with a BA in Physical Education and Home Economics.  On June 1, 1941 in Syracuse she married Robert T. “Bob” Searfoss who preceded her in 1994. She retired in 1977 from Wawasee Community School Corporation as a Physical Education Teacher in North Webster after 8 ½ years.

She was a member of the St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Syracuse, where she helped with the Thrift Shop and was a member of the Mothers Club since 1942.

She is survived by:
4 Daughters – Mrs. Tony (Sherry) Norris of Gig Harbor, WA; Jane Stockinger of Grand Rapids, MI; Mrs. Ronald (Sally) Hanson of Carmel, IN; & Mrs. Dwight (Debra) Hughes of Cedar Rapids, IA
Son – R.T. (wife, Paula) Searfoss of Syracuse
18 Grand & 20 Gt. Grandchildren

She was preceded by her parents, husband, daughter – Mary Jo Searfoss,
grandson – Drew Searfoss, gt. granddaughter – Lily Hughes, & 2 brothers – William & Voyle Osborn.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 1413 N. Long, Syracuse with Rev. Mark Eastway of the church officiating. Burial will follow in Syracuse Cemetery.

Memorial bequest may be given to Saint Andrews United Methodist Church, 1413 N. Long Dr., Syracuse, IN 46567. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
