Luella G. Huffman, 87, of Goshen, IN (formerly North Webster, IN) died 3:40 p.m. on November 22, 2009 at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, IN. She was born on November 5, 1922 in Wabash County, IN to Carver R. and Etta Cora (Thomas) Smith.
She graduated in 1940 from Chester High School in North Manchester, IN. On March 14, 1944 in New York, NY she married Ernest E. "Tag" Huffman who preceded her November 14, 2006. She moved to the North Webster area in 1959 from Rockville, MA. She was a homemaker and co-owner/operator of the Dixie Boat and Camp from September 1960 to October 1980. She was a member of the North Webster Church of God and the Wawasee Camp of Gideon's Auxiliary.
She is survived by:
1 Daughter - Rhonda (Wayne) Loucks of Goshen;
3 Grandchildren - Amanda (Jason) Evers of Goshen, Adam Loucks of Goshen & Natalie (Alex) Cook of Wakarusa;
4 Gt. Grandchildren;
2 Sisters - Cleo Maple of North Manchester & Goldie Frohriep of Sturgis, MI;
1 Brother - Rollin (wife, Montra) Smith of Kokomo.
She was preceded by her parents, husband, 2 infant sons - Ernest E. Huffman, Jr. and Thomas Leon Huffman; 3 brothers - Alva, Claude, and Glen Smith; & 2 sisters - Ethel Briner & Edith Smith.
Visitation will be 2:00 - 4:00 & 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at the Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Fountain Park Cemetery, 700 S. Main St., Winchester, IN 47394 with Rev. Vernie Huffman officiating.
Memorial bequests may be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 101, Syracuse, IN 46567. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
