Biography
Lutie Ellen Beatty, known to most simply as “Granny,” passed away Wednesday, October 12th, 2016 at 11:26 am in Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne. She was 87 years old.
Lutie was born on February 20, 1929 in Warsaw, Indiana. She was the daughter of Artie and Florence (Ryan) Long.
She spent her lifetime in the Warsaw and Leesburg areas and attended local schools.
She retired from RR Donnelley with nearly 30 years of service; working first in the bindery and later as a security guard.
Granny was very generous and giving, rarely missing the opportunity to send a special note or a greeting card. She enjoyed whizzing around in her ’98 Camaro Z28 convertible and liked to arrange flowers. She had a knack for decorating and loved to shop and collect, especially seraphim and snowmen – Christmas was her favorite. For many years she was Mrs. Claus at RR Donnelley.
In addition, she was a longtime, faithful attendee of Leesburg Grace Brethren Church.
Those who survive include two granddaughters: Heather Beatty of Warsaw and Hillary Kammerer of Milford, Indiana; grandson: Branden Beatty of North Webster, Indiana; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister: Bertie Lentz of South Bend, Indiana and a daughter-in-law: Carolyn Hanna of Leesburg.
Those who preceded Lutie in passing include her three children: Amber Staples (November 6, 2015), Barry Beatty (Sept 28, 2005), and an infant son, Alex Beatty; sister: Millie Engle and brother: Artie Long, Jr.
Friends and family may gather for a time of sharing on Saturday, October 22nd from 10 am to 12, Noon at Leesburg Grace Brethren Church, 101 West School Street in Leesburg.
A service which celebrates the life of Lutie E. Beatty will take place at Noon in the church. Pastor Tim Sprankle of Leesburg Grace Brethren will officiate. Burial will be in Oswego Cemetery.
