Marceil Gay Conley, lifelong resident of Kosciusko County, peacefully joined her husband and son in eternal rest on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Paddock Springs at the age of 89. She was born on February 6, 1935, in Silver Lake, Indiana, to Gordon Wayne and Marguerite Haney (Bouse). A woman of steadfast kindness and gentle spirit, Marceil was a true embodiment of unselfishness, always ready to lend an ear and shower her loved ones with compassion.
Marceil graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1953. Just after graduation, she married her true love, John Conley. The two spent 68 years together making lasting memories before his passing in August of 2021. Marceil dedicated her professional life to Warsaw Community Schools where she worked as a library aid until her retirement in 1981.
Known affectionately to her family as the “cookie grandma,” her kitchen was a haven of warmth and joy, filled with the delightful aromas of her baking. Her strong faith and dedication to her community were evident through her involvement with the Methodist church. Alongside her love of baking, Marceil enjoyed traveling to North Port, Florida, spending sixteenwinters with John. She also found pleasure in engaging in games such as bingo, dominoes, and shuffleboard, and cherished moments spent reading and playing the piano.
Marceil's greatest pride and joy were her family, who will forever treasure her loving memory. She leaves behind her sons, Douglas J. (Karen) Conley of Bloomington, IN, and Dale J. (Sheryl) Conley of Naples, FL; her daughter, Deanna G. (Gary) Cooper of Leesburg; her daughter-in-law, Lucinda Conley; sister in law, Marilyn Haney; and a legacy of joy through her grandchildren: Mandy (Mike) Laning of Westfield, Adam (Emily) Conley of Greenwood, Sheena (fiancé, Luke Rodriguez) Zile of Warsaw, Keriann (Jeff) Tankersley of Bloomington, Leah (Tom) Green of Fishers, Kailey (Jackson) Heavener of Warsaw, Kyle (Alyssa) Kiphart of Warsaw, Dr. Kelsey (Haven) Hoffman of Clancy, MT, Angie (Joel) Grable of Columbia City, and Crystal (Adam) Ligda of Crown Point, IN. She also adored her 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Marceil now rejoices in her heavenly home, reunited with her husband, John Conley, and her son, Donald Conley. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers, John E. Haney and Dr. James A. Haney, who will welcome her with open arms.
Friends and family are invited to join in remembering Marceil during visitation at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 Sheridan St. Warsaw, IN onSaturday, January 11, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. At 1:00 PM, her Life Celebration service will begin with Pastor Brian Smith officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Oakwood Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Paddock Springs for their supportive care of Marceil. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations in honor of Marceil may be given to Riley Children’s Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association.
