Maria Churchill, age 88, passed away in Fort Wayne at Townhouse Retirement Community. She was a longtime resident of both Fort Wayne and Warsaw.
Born in Oberradling, Hungary on March 19, 1934, she was the daughter of Karl Lang and Josephine (Köeppel) Lang. Maria was married to John D Churchill on October 21, 1954; the pair met in Europe, eventually making their home in Warsaw. Married for 28 years prior to his passing in 1983, Maria and John share five children: John K., James, Ingrid, Teresa, and Valerie.
A generous, giving person, Maria had a genuine love for others and rarely knew a stranger. She was blessed with the gift of hospitality and loved sharing time with her family - nothing meant more to her than her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed flowers, gardening, and cooking, often sharing the fruits of her labor with friends and family.
Those who will miss Maria’s fun-loving, friendly spirit most include sons: John K. Churchill and James (Laurie) Churchill both of Warsaw; daughters: Ingrid Churchill, Valerie Churchill, and Teresa (Medrick) McClain all of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and three siblings: brother, Karl Lang and sisters, Erika Marquardt and Anna Thorwart all of Germany. In addition to her husband, John D. Churchill, she was preceded in passing by her parents and a brother, Franz Lang.
