Mary Hernandez, age 69 of Warsaw, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
Though most knew her as Mary, she was born Maria del Socorro Garcia in Elwood, Indiana on September 23, 1951. Mary was one of sixteen children and was the daughter of Raul and Julia (Carrizales) Garcia. She was married to Martin Hernandez, Sr. on September 12, 1969 – the pair shared more than 51 years together.
Mary was kind, caring and truly the rock of her family. She was supportive and loving and always sure to have good food available – no one went hungry at Mary’s! She was also very friendly and rarely knew a stranger. In addition to caring for her family and home, she spent nearly 45 years with Warsaw Coil and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was an incredible person with a huge heart for helping others. It would be nearly impossible to sum her up in an obituary.
Those who survive with memories to cherish include her husband, Martin Hernandez, Sr. of Warsaw and their three daughters: Ann (Todd) Yates of Mentone, Tina (Albert Elizondo) Hernandez of Warsaw and Linda (Brian Schneidewent) Hernandez of Warsaw. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Niya Sainer, Kendric Fortner, McKenzie Elizondo, Keegan Hernandez, Kaleb (Ellie) Schneidewent and Ethan Yates; three great-grandchildren: Braelyn, Jadyn and Jocelyn and eleven siblings. She was preceded in passing by her son, Martin Hernandez, Jr., by a granddaughter, Taylyn Mauk and by four siblings.
