Marilyn L. Cole

Marilyn L. Cole passed away on July 25, 2024 at The Waters of Syracuse, Indiana at 10:40pm. She was born on September 16, 1937 in Marion, Indiana to Edward and Lucille (Pat)) Shively Merchant.

Marilyn graduated from Marion HS in 1955. She then graduated from Ball State in 1959. She taught Kindergarten and 1st grade in Marion. She married Sam Cole in 1959. In 1970 they moved to Lake Tippecanoe and later moved to Lake Wawasee. Marilyn substitute taught in the Wawasee School system for many years. She was also a realtor for Todd Realty.

Marilyn and Sam loved the lake. They were very active in the community. They belonged to All Saints Episcopal Church, Syracuse. They were on the board of the Lakeland Youth Center, Kosciusko County Cancer Society and the Lake Wawasee Flotilla Committee.

Marilyn leaves a daughter, Cathleen (Jeff) Beachy of Bristol: grandson, Ben Keim of Ft. Wayne; two great-grandchildren, Ft. Wayne; and a brother, Ed (Jane) Merchant of Marion. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 64 years, Sam Cole, in February 2024. She was also preceded in the passing of granddaughter, Kate Keim.

Arrangements are entrusted to Titus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1001 S. Huntington Street, Syracuse, IN 46567. A joint Mass will be held for Marilyn and Sam at All Saints Episcopal Church, Syracuse, on September 26, 2024 at 12:30pm. 

Marilyn will always be remembered for her infectious laugh.
