Marilyn Ruth Litton, 90, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2013 at 7:30 PM in Munster, Indiana while surrounded by family.
Marilyn was born April 7, 1923 in Hammond, Indiana to Roy and Ruth F. (Miner) Mattix. She was a 1941 graduate of Hammond High School. Then the year following on July 10, 1942, also in Hammond, she married Kenneth A. Litton. She was a bookkeeper for the Hammond Public Schools and a secretary for School City of Hammond.
Marilyn was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Atwood, Indiana. She enjoyed reading, cooking and gardening. She loved living on Hoffman Lake, Atwood.
Left with special memories are 2 daughters and sons-in-law: Carol and Gene Sera of League City, Texas and Debra and Bill McDillon of Highland, Indiana; 4 grandchildren: Amy (and Sean) Ricketts, Beth (and Ryan) Scheckel, Ken McDillon and Jonathan (and Grace) McDillon; 5 great grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law: LeRoy and June Mattix of South Bend, Indiana.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, on November 1, 2001 and a brother, Robert Mattix.
Family and friends will gather for a time of sharing in support of each other Thursday November 14th from 12 noon until 2 PM (EST) at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. A service to celebrate the life of Marilyn Ruth Litton will begin at 2 PM (EST). Rev. Edward Cunningham of Terrace Park Church of God, Hammond, will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date.
The family has asked that gifts in memory of Marilyn be given to a charity of choice or simple acts of kindness may be done for others in her memory.
The staff of Titus Funeral Home considers it a privilege to care for the family and friends of Marilyn Ruth Litton.
