Marilyn L. Bess, 76, of Milford, IN went to be with the Lord at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on February 28, 1933 in Toledo, OH to Floyd & Rosa L. (Thomas) DeCamp.

She graduated in 1951 from Anderson High School in Anderson, IN. She was married in February 1953 in Anderson, IN to Dale Robert Kasten who preceded her in 1979 and then on April 10, 1987 in Milford, IN to William N. "Bill" Bess who survives. She was a homemaker and lived in Anderson, New Castle, & Delphi, IN before moving to Milford in 1985.

She was an active member of the Wawasee Heights Baptist Church in Syracuse where she took care of many different flowers details for the church & Red Hat Ladies Group in Milford / Syracuse. She enjoyed ballroom & square dancing, working in her flower beds, antiquing, tending to her home, and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by:
Husband - Bill Bess of Milford;
2 Daughters - Mrs. Ron (Lynn) Cole of Syracuse & Mrs. Tom (Kathy) Naylor of Jacksonville Beach, FL;
1 Son - Steve (wife, Carla) Kasten of Bristol, IN;
2 Step Daughters - Mrs. Garry Angela) Ferrell of Goshen & Mary Kay Bess of Warsaw;
1 Step Son - William Bess of Wolcottville, IN;
11 Grand & 3 Gt. Granddaughters;
1 Sister - Alice Campbell of Dunnellon, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband.

Visitation will from 2:00 - 4:00 & 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2009 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the Wawasee Heights Baptist Church, 504 S. Syracuse-Webster Road, Syracuse, IN with Pastor John French of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the New Paris Cemetery.

Memorial bequests may be given to the Goshen Center for Cancer Care or Goshen Hospital Hospice, both at 200 High Park Ave., Goshen, IN 46526. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
