Marvin H. Smith, a dedicated and hardworking individual, passed away peacefully at his home on January 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 15, 1947, in Bluefield, WV, he was the son of Marvin and Elsie (Walker) Smith.

Marvin's professional journey was characterized by his commitment and unwavering dedication. He spent thirty years as a physical plant director at the Department of Corrections, ensuring that facilities were well-maintained and providing a safe environment for all. Prior to this role, Marvin worked as a lineman for Appalachian Power Company for thirteen years. His expertise and tireless efforts were highly valued by both organizations.

Educated at Princeton High School, Marvin graduated with the class of 1964. This formal education laid the foundation for his successful career and demonstrated his determination to excel in every aspect of life. Marvin also had the privilege of serving as a Military Police Officer in the United States Army. His devoted service to our country showcased his bravery and selflessness. 

In addition to his professional pursuits, Marvin had a variety of interests and hobbies that brought him immense joy throughout his life. He was an avid fisherman and boater who found solace in the calmness of nature's waters. Golf also played an important role in Marvin's life as he delighted in spending time on the green, honing his skills while enjoying the company of friends. Music held a special place in Marvin's heart, with "A Horse with No Name" by America being one of his favorite songs. 

Marvin's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew him best. He is survived by his beloved wife, Paulette; sons, Eddie (Kimmie) O'Dell and Billy (Jennifer) O'Dell; daughter, Cari Seeley; grandchildren, Ethan and Aiden O'Dell, Trevor O'Dell, and Taylie Seeley; great grandchildren, Sophia and Bentley, and special family friend, Meredith Campbell. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Stuart Smith. 

Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Warsaw is entrusted with Marvin's care. Services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
