Mary Lemelin

Mary Ellen (Peterson) Lemelin, 76, of Sparta, WI, passed away peacefully at Miller's Merry Manor in Warsaw, IN on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.

Mary Ellen will be best remembered for her sense of humor and adventuresome spirit. Self-dubbed, "Mary the Fairy" was renowned for transformations with her magical wand…"Poof!".

Mary Ellen was born March 8, 1947, to Donovan and Dorothy Mae (Schulz) Peterson in Sparta, WI and attended Sparta Senior High School. She met a handsome soldier, Paul Lemelin, who was stationed at Ft. McCoy, and the rest was history; they were married, August 29, 1964.

Mary Ellen is survived by her son - Donovan (Annalisa) Lemelin of Prairie du Sac, WI; grandchildren - Cotye (Elanna Van Mete) Lemelin, Norma (Justin) Hannam, Alexsa Lemelin, and Quintin Lemelin; great-grandchildren - Mallory Lemelin and Lily Moeller; siblings - Ronald (Diane) Peterson, Sally Peterson, Nancy VanDalsem, and Carla Peterson; niece and nephews - Kris (David) Olson, Robert (Summer) Simpson, Matt (Sarah) Simpson, William (JeriLyn) VanDalsem, Nathaniel (Cissa) VanDalsem, and Ryan Schonhoff; six great-nephews and nieces; life-long friend Kathy Powers. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband Paul in 2012; her parents, Donovan and Dorothy May Peterson; and son, David Lemelin.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2023, 2:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sparta, WI. Pastor Josh Buzbee will officiate. Burial will follow in the Cataract Cemetery, Cataract, WI. Family and friends are invited for visitation beginning at noon until the time of service at the church.

Local arrangements are entrusted to Titus Funeral Home of Warsaw.
