Mary N. Reed, 96, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Millers Merry Manor in Syracuse. She was born on January 31, 1915 in South Bend, IN to Leon & Cecil (Borror) Casper.
She graduated in 1933 from Riley High School in South Bend and she was married on November 15, 1937 in South Bend to Jim Reed, who preceded her in death on August 15, 1980. She was a homemaker and moved to the Syracuse area in 1968 from South Bend.
She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse where she was involved in the Martha’s Circle. She and her husband formerly played in a square dance band.
She is survived by:
Daughter – Linda Musselman of Milford
Granddaughter – Mrs. Joe (Teresa) Calhoun of Claypool
2 Gt. Grandchildren – Keegan Geiger & Lindsey Rose
Nephew – Leon Casper of Mishawaka
Former son-in-law – Terry Musselman of Milford
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter, 2 infant grandchildren, 2 sisters – Mildred & Beverly Casper, & 1 brother – Harley Casper.
Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Southlawn Cemetery, 61300 U.S. 31 South, South Bend, IN with Pastor David Herr of the church officiating.
Memorial bequest may be given to Calvary United Methodist Church, 801 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN 46567. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
