Mary Florence Green, 86, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Millers Merry Manor in Syracuse. She was born on March 5, 1928 in Brownsville, PA to Christopher & Florence E. (Embrey) North.

She graduated from Brownsville High School, received a Business Degree from a Junior College in Pittsburgh, PA and an Associates Degree from Indiana - Purdue University in Fort Wayne. She lived most of her life in the Elkhart & Cromwell area before moving to Syracuse in 1980. She was married to Boyd McFarren, Harry Knox, and Walter Green who all preceded her in death during their marriage. She retired in 1990 from Syracuse Rubber Company after 26 years of service as the Personnel Manager / Systems Analyst and formerly worked at Essex Wire in Ligonier.

She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse, Calvary Ruth Circle, Maxwelton Ladies Golf Association, GNO Girlfriends, Golden Girls, Mother’s Club, Just for Fun Bunch, was active in the Writer’s Corner of the North Webster Library, and Syracuse Library Book Club.

She is survived by:
Daughter – Carolyn (Gary) Doyle of Parrish, FL
Son – Boyd (Sally) McFarren of Fulton, IL
6 Grand & 2 Gt. Grandchildren
Special friend – Robert “Bob” Laughlin of Syracuse

She was preceded by her parents, 3 husbands, & brother – Christopher North.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2014 in the Calvary United Methodist Church, 801 S. Huntington St., Syracuse with Pastor Jerry Turner of the church officiating. Burial will be at the Sparta Cemetery in Kimmel, IN.

Memorial bequest may be given to Goshen Care at Home Hospice, P.O. Box 723, Goshen, IN 46526. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
