Mary Jane Thompson

Mary Jane Thompson, 83, of Leesburg, IN passed away at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Grace Village Healthcare in Winona Lake, IN. She was born on March 12, 1933 in LaPorte, IN to Clarence P. & Hulda M. (Wedow) Moore.

She graduated in 1951 from LaPorte High School, in 1955 from Ball State University, and received her Master’s Degree from St. Francis College in Fort Wayne. On June 1, 1958 in LaPorte she married William E. “Bill” Thompson who survives. She grew up in LaPorte and moved to the Leesburg area in 1963 from Kimmell, IN. She taught at Wolf Lake and Central Noble Schools for 10 years and then retired from Wawasee Community School Corporation after 15 years as a Home Economics Teacher in North Webster.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oswego and the Arthritis Foundation.

She is survived by:

Husband – Bill Thompson of Leesburg

Daughter – Connie (Jeff) Kaiser of Albion

2 Sons – Alan (Julia) Thompson of Wakarusa & James (Nancy) Thompson of Novi, MI

6 Grandchildren

2 Sisters – Betty Shaw of Chesterton, IN & Marjorie (George) Hueckstedt of Sunny Hills, FL

Brother – Clarence (Eloise) Moore Jr. of Englewood, FL

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd 13 & CR 500N, North Webster, IN. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2016 in the funeral home with Pastor Ron Manahan of the church officiating. Burial will follow in Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery.
