Max L. Engle

Max Lyle Engle, lifelong resident of Warsaw, was reunited with his wife Barbara after passing at Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the age of 86. He was born on July 13, 1938, the son of Merl and Blanch Engle (Harper).

After graduating from Warsaw High School in 1957, Max married Barbara Lowman on June 6, 1959, and together they spent their lives raising their sons. He dedicated over 22 years as head of maintenance for Warsaw schools before his retirement.

Max was an active member of Pleasant View Bible Church where he enjoyed working in the nursery with his wife. He also was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying deer and squirrel hunting. Most of all, his greatest joy in life was his family.

Max is survived by his three sons: Daniel (Carla) Engle, James (Lynnette) Engle, and Todd (Janice) Engle; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and his sister, Nancy Kleeman. He was preceded in passing by his parents, sons, Bruce Allen Engle and Douglas Lyle Engle; and siblings, Gene Engle, Merlene Kassebaum, Mary “Frankie” Noble, Royse Engle and Ruth Seiffert.
