Max Glenn Evans, 79, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 4:18 a.m. on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Methodist Southlake Hospital in Merrillville, IN from complications of Covid 19. He was born on July 19, 1941 in Milford, IN to Warren Daniel & Jeanette Cora (Williams) Evans.
He graduated in 1960 from Milford High School, attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN, and was a United States Marine veteran. He was a lifetime Milford / Syracuse area resident and was married on April 24, 1965 in Bremen, IN to Marlene K. Sheetz who survives. He retired as owner / operator of Evans Construction after 20+ years and was the former owner / operator of Evans Family Store in Milford for 12 years. He formerly worked as a cost accountant for various local mobile home & RV factories.
He was a member of the Millersburg Church of Christ & American Legion Post 223 in Syracuse and formerly attended the Milford & Ligonier Christian Church.
He is survived by:
Wife – Marlene Evans of Syracuse
2 Daughters – Marcia (Russell Runyon) Goodman of Warsaw & Melissa (Henry) Sanchez of Ligonier
Son – Marc Evans of Charlotte, NC
7 Grandchildren – Maggie Sanchez, Travis Goodman, Melanie Sanchez, Ethan Goodman, Sarah Sanchez, Morgan Goodman, and Emma Sanchez
6 Gt. Grandchildren – Iden Nelson, Karma Hershberger, Autumn Weaver, Ingrid Nadar, Warren Sanchez, and Kalliope Hershberger
3 Sisters – Joan (Lew) Bass of Bedford, TX, Lois (Conrad) Neff of New Paris, and Hilda O’Blenis of Bonita Springs, FL
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN and 1 hour prior to services on Thursday at the church. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at the Christian Church, 201 N. Henry St, Milford, IN with Pastor David Main officiating. Burial will be in the Milford Cemetery.
Preferred memorials may be given to the Church of Christ, 11851 CR 44, Millersburg, IN 46543. His last request was for his family and friends to get vaccinated.
