Max L. Piper

Max L. Piper, 77, of North Manchester, IN went home to be with his Heavenly Father at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, July 15, 2019 at his home. He was born on June 5, 1942 in Warsaw, IN to Walter Ray & Ethel (Benz) Piper.

He was a lifetime North Manchester area resident and graduated from Manchester High School. He was married on July 30, 1988 in the Manchester College Chapel to G. Sue (Ogan) Brandenburg who survives.

He retired in 2012 from Gaunt & Son Asphalt in Wabash, IN after 12 years as a dump truck driver. He was formerly employed at Controls in North Manchester for 4 years and the North Manchester Police Department for 7 years.  He formerly owned and operated the Radiator Repair Shop in North Manchester and the Sunoco gas station in North Manchester for 5 years. He owned and operated 8 semis for 12 years starting as a driver for Provimi Veal in Mentone and eventually moved up to plant manager.

He was a Boy Scout in his youth, member of the Moose Lodge in North Manchester for many years, member of the Goldwing club, and attended the Emmanuel Community Church in Fort Wayne, IN.  He was an avid golfer, loved riding motorcycles, formerly played on Piper’s Slow Pitch Softball Team.

He is survived by:

Wife – Sue Piper of North Manchester

Son – Shanen (Kristi) Piper of Westfield, IN

Stepson – Sean (Julie) Brandenburg of Key West, FL

Stepdaughter – Tanya Kirby of Indianapolis, IN

2 Grandchildren – Zachary Evan Piper of Westfield & Kinsey Dyan Piper of Westfield

Brother – Virgil Ray (Rosemary) Piper of North Manchester

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers – Paul & Duane Piper

A private Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd 15, Warsaw, IN is in charge of arrangements.

Preferred memorials may be given to the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, 5910 Homestead Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46814, Riley Hospital for Children, 702 Barnhill Dr., Indianapolis, IN 46202, or Wabash County Animal Shelter, 810 Manchester Ave, Wabash, IN 46992.
