Melody Anne Coffey, age 58, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at 3:51 p.m. in Steuben County where she was visiting relatives. She was the daughter of the late Nancy (White) Griffin and was born on April 16, 1961.
A teacher herself, Melody was exceptionally educated, having earned three separate master’s degrees from Ball State University with course work at Fort Wayne Bible College and Walden University. She spent more than fifteen years with Wawasee School district, five years with Indianapolis Public Schools and most recently was teaching with Hoosier Academy.
More personally, she was an avid traveler who loved visiting new locales and seeking out unique sights. She was kind, sweet, loyal and laid back. Time spent with family was precious to Melody and, true to her wanderlust, she enjoyed visiting her brother in England on several occasions. She was collector of lighthouses and loved the lake.
On October 26, 2000, Melody was united in marriage to Richard Coffey. Mr. Coffey survives at their home in Oklahoma. Also surviving are two daughters, Hilary Erynn Elisabeth Coffey (Jesse Palmer) of Arkansas City, Kansas and Kilie Ladon McCants (Israel) of Fort Wayne; two grandchildren Cole and Jesslynn; brother, Beau Jones (Heather) of Suffolk, England and sisters, Holly Sonner (Jason) of Jacksonville, FL and April Moore (Nathan) of Warsaw. She was preceded in passing by her mother.
Friends may join family for visitation on Friday, November 22, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw. A Life Celebration® service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. with doors open for one-hour prior for a second visitation.
