Melvin D. “Melvie & Nice Day” Williams, 78, of Kendallville, IN (formerly of Syracuse, IN) passed away at 7:50 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at his home. He was born on February 29, 1932 in Auburn, IN to Walter P. & Gwendolyn M. (Rogers) Williams.
He lived for 11 years in California as a young man but lived most of his life in Syracuse area until moving to Ligonier / Kendallville area in 1995. He was employed at Foundations in Albion, IN and he formerly worked for Sellers Manufacturing, Smith Walbridge Camp & Syracuse Rubber Company al in Syracuse.
He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Kendallville and formerly attended Syracuse Church of God.
He is survived by:
3 Sisters – Julia Harmon of Austin, TX; Mrs. Anarbul (Artista) Anaya of Corona, CA; Mrs. James (Elma) Foust of Ligonier, IN
3 Brothers – Roger (wife, Betty) Williams of Camarillo, CA, David (wife, Kathleen) Williams of Houston, TX; Lawrence Williams of Novato, CA

He was preceded in death by parents, 2 sisters – Leora Small & Glenora Williams,
brother – Quentin Williams.
Visitation will be from 1:00 -3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Brad Cox of the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.
Memorial bequest may be given to Foundations, 506 South Orange Street, Albion, IN 46701. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
