Michael Scott Hayes, 26 years old, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw, Indiana. Michael was raised in Silver Lake, Indiana but was living and working in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Born on February 20, 1990 in Goshen, Indiana, Michael is the son of Scott Hayes and Sally (Hoover) Arter.
He was engaged to be married to Katie Gibson of Warsaw, Indiana. Together they recently welcomed a baby boy, Graysen Scott, into their lives.
Michael was working as a press operator for PAC Bannerworks in Mishawaka.
Known for his loving, joking personality and for always being in a good mood, Michael never knew a stranger. He enjoyed all kinds of music and was an accomplished guitar player. He liked many sports and enjoyed playing Frisbee Golf. Michael loved animals and spent his time fishing on Hill Lake.
Although Michael touched many lives, those who survive and are left broken hearted include his family: Fiancée, Katie Gibson of Warsaw; father, Scott (Debi) Hayes of Syracuse, Indiana; mother, Sally (Rich) Arter of Jones, Michigan; step-sister, Katrina (James) Neal of Jones, Michigan; two step-brothers, Neil Lindgren of Boise, Idaho and Nick (Kayla) Lindgren of Arcadia California; maternal grandmother, Paula Decker of Mishawaka, Indiana; three sons: Elijah, Aaron and Graysen; three nephews: Justin, Aaron and Dillon and a niece, Kaelyn. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and a large extended family.
Those who preceded Michael in passing include his brother, Aaron Hayes (August 1991), both paternal grandparents and his maternal grandfather.
Friends and family will gather in Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw on Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 2-4 & 6-8pm to share memories and visit with one another.
Private family services will be held with burial at Germantown Cemetery, Silver Lake.
In memory of Michael’s love for animals, the family has asked that gifts be made in his memory to Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County, PO Box 1906, Warsaw, Indiana 46581-1906.
