Biography
Michael L. Kimes, “Mechanic 688,” passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 5:25 in Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was 67 years old at the time of his death.
Born on April 14, 1949 in Goshen, Indiana, he was the son of Howard L. and Edith L (Price) Kimes. Michael spent most of his lifetime in the Warsaw and Goshen areas. He graduated from Warsaw High School with the class of 1967.
On March 3, 1969 in Indianapolis, Indiana, Michael entered into service with the US Army. He served as a military policeman. Specialist E-4, Michael L. Kimes was honorably discharged on February 4, 1971 in Oakland, California.
On March 2, 1990 Michael and Trudy Rodeffer were married. She survives in Warsaw.
He owned and operated CB Radio for 27 years, was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching driver Tony Stewart. He recycled electronics and loved being with his family.
Those who survive include his wife: Trudy Kimes of Warsaw; three daughters: Leanna (Nick) Brand of Warsaw, Sarah (James Wheat) Kimes of Warsaw and Michelle (James) Yost of Sarcoxie, Missouri; five grandchildren: Cameron Heckaman, Kyle Heckaman, Caleb Heckaman, Beth Yost and Bridget Yost; 2 nieces and a nephew: Alycee Kissinger, Patrice Hygemia and Eric Kimes.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents Edith and Howard Kimes; a brother: Dallas Kimes on March 20, 2002 and sister-in-law: Sandra Kimes.
Friends and family may gather for a time of sharing and visitation on Saturday, July 9, 2016 from 9 to 11 am in Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw. A funeral service celebrating the life of Michael L. Kimes will follow visitation, beginning at 11 am. Pastor Denny Bollenbacher of New Beginnings Church in Atwood, Indiana will officiate. Burial will take place in Pleasant View Cemetery with military graveside honors conducted by members of North Webster American Legion Post #253.
