Mildred I. “Millie” Neer, 99, went to be with her Lord Wednesday morning, November 12, 2014 at the Lake Placid (Florida) Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Millie was born June 20, 1915 in Kosciusko County to William A. and Viola Fay (Fawley) Schooley.
She and Fred “Porky” Neer were joined in marriage May 10, 1957. They moved to Lake Placid 27 years ago from Warsaw, Indiana.
A homemaker, Millie was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Lake Placid as well as the American Legion Post #49. She was a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary. Millie enjoyed entertaining her friends, playing a good game of cards and loved spending time with both her family and friends.
Survivors include Porky, her loving husband of 57 years; 2 daughters: Mary Grubbs and Bonnie Cleveland – both of Lake Placid; son and daughter-in-law: Norman and Brenda Grubbs, Lake Placid; step daughter: Carol Bidic, Warsaw; step son: Danny Neer, Warsaw; daughter-in-law: Jane Grubbs, Warsaw; 13 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and 34 great, great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Millie was preceded in death by a daughter: Barbara Hyde; 3 sons: Ronnie Grubbs, Billy Grubbs and Don Grubbs; a grandson; and 2 sisters: Clara Parker and Fern Reichard.
Family and friends will gather for a time of sharing memories in support of each other Friday, November 21st from 4-7 PM at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan Street, Warsaw, Indiana 46580. A service celebrating Millie’s life will begin at 11 AM Saturday, November 22nd at the funeral home. Jamy Gregory, associate pastor at Warsaw Community Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Harrison Center Cemetery, Etna Green, Indiana.
